"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" – Einstein would have loved it!
In the popular movie "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe CS Lewis created the imaginary land of Narnia, where 4 children face a journey through time and discover the forces of good and evil, and take a greater role in that battle that had never dreamed.
Set during World War 2, four siblings Lucy, Peter, Edmund, Susan and moved to the province because of the London bombings, and start exploring the great house which is their new temporary home. In a back room of the house is a large cabinet filled with many layers. The younger sister, Lucy, running in the closet to hide from the other children, and in doing so, he discovers that the back of the closet is the door to another world called Narnia. In this world is a faun named Tumnus that lulls to sleep with a lovely melody on his flute. When she returned hours later through the wardrobe to his brothers and sister, finds that no time has elapsed. Apparently, the time in Narnia is not correlated with the time in England. (An idea, incidentally, according to Einstein's Theory of Relativity.) His brothers naturally quarrel when told of his adventure, but she remains convinced of her experience was real. One by one, others will also come, but we found this new world of Narnia is not a happy place, but is locked in the grip of perpetual winter by the magic of an evil queen.
In due course the children, known in Narnia as "sons of Adam and daughters of Eve" to learn that Aslan, the lion king of the world of Narnia, returns and can help against the witch. But when they learn that one of its own, Edmund, was tricked by the sorcerer and is now really in their service, they need more help. Aslan is as good as he is powerful, and with Him all things are possible. Over time, gives his life in exchange for his release from the White Witch's magic, then returns to life due to the "deeper magic before the dawn of time." (Worm holes to another dimension?) After much fighting the forces of evil with the help of Aslan and eventually defeat the White Witch, the 4 children get to rule the kingdom of Narnia as kings and queens of what seemed like a thousand years before being transferred back England again only to find children playing in the old house.
Hmmmm. It sounds a little familiar … as something that has been happening in our world for last few thousand years.
Well, whatever the case, and leaving aside for a moment the obvious parallels with Christianity, it occurred to me that Einstein would have been first in line to see the film.
How so?
On the one hand, Einstein, known for its mainstream, said, "The Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all who will ever know and understand. "
In the land of Narnia time was completely uncorrelated with time in England, which is consistent with the theory Einstein's time dilation. And wormholes that tunnel into distant regions of space and time and black holes and string theory and the curvature of space-time … "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" has it all and more.
Move over, Albert, I'm with you!
