The relationship between magic and art
When the word "magic" is mentioned, people will think well of David Copperfield or view pictures of the Snow White's wicked stepmother standing beside her cauldron preparing a poisonous potion between puffs of bright colors that are released as each ingredient is added vile, while chanting incantations in a language that could only be demonic in nature.
Occult magic (unlike legerdemain of David Copperfield the hand of magic) has been regarded by many as the domain of witchcraft. This is actually not true. Magic is a universal gift. It is studied and implemented by most of pagans, whatever the path followed. Taking the matter, I dare say that even Christians, Hindus and other "non-Witch" people have without knowing the magic spells and out, even if they do not care to know about it. Perhaps, as the story unfolds, this statement will be better understood.
So what is magic and what not?
The magic is transformation. Practitioners of magic first, ask for the assistance and blessings of of his Deity / IES. This is important because the energies of the natural world and self are two manifestations of the energy of the Godhead. To receive the blessing of Deity reinforces these energies.
The professional harness the energies of the natural world and the cost of these energies with your own personal power (often called the intention). The energy that arises is released and directed to affect change or event.
The magic is neither good nor bad, but totally neutral. It is the intention of professional who will make the effect of magic to be positive or negative. Black Magick neutral means that the energy of magic was directed to affect a change or demonstration someone with malicious intent. White magic means that energy was directed Magic neutral affect a change or a demonstration by someone with good intentions. Gray Magic means that the neutral energy of magic was directed to affect a change or a demonstration by someone who intended good but did not consider the possible impact negative spell.
Magic can only be used to change what is changeable. In the example, can be used to heal a wound operation, but not to that new growth of a kidney. Nor is it a crutch. The universe endowed us all with many capabilities (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) and expected we use it. Magic is only intended as a supplement. Magic is not a parlor game. It's an art to be studied seriously and treated with respect.
